SANA
Sana is a primary and high school teacher specializing in English and History. Her favourite subject is History, especially the history of ancient civilizations. She loves watching documentaries and shows that depict any form of history from the ancient times. But, Sana cannot remember historical dates, or even the day of the week for that matter. She likes to play sports, read, and travel the world.
Sana thinks digital literacy is important because by teaching students to access the Internet safely, students can then become global citizens leading to a future generation of acceptance, equality, and helpfulness.
CHRISTINA
Christina is a high school/postsecondary science educator. Her favourite school subject is biology, but she really enjoys technology and wishes she had more time to spare learning more about it. Christina likes to pretend she is good at crafting, and likes to upcycle old objects into new ones. She has two cats, who are not at all digitally literate.
Christina thinks digital literacy is important for students to be able to come to their own conclusions about information they receive online.
JULIE
Julie is a high school History and Social Sciences teacher. Her favourite subject is History, and she loves using modern technology to explore the past, make connections with the present and predictions about the future. She is the Mom of two small boys so she is sleep deprived, often covered in dirt and an expert on all things Thomas the Train.
Julie thinks digital literacy is important because it teaches students how to effectively and safely access and contribute to their global community.
YEIJEAN
Yeijean is a high school Business Studies and Mathematics teacher. She is actively involved with experiential learning and extracurricular activities such as DECA and Stock Market Challenges, promoting financial literacy education for young children and youth. Yeijean enjoys playing team sports, participating instrumental music performances and spending quality time with her family and friends.
With the emergence of globalization and technology-driven knowledge society, digital literacy education for students is important to ensure information and technology are used in responsible and ethical ways.
